First Pride Parade: In June of 1977, members of the PFLAG Los Angeles chapter marched for the first time in the Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade. Their presence thrilled the crowd, and organizers awarded the PFLAG contingent the Grand Marshall's award. Adele describes the excitement of the experience in the accompanying document. In a touching phrase, she refers to the parade goers as "our children," and brought the crowd to its feet promising that the march was "Only the beginning of our fight to save our children from bigotry."
