Who We Are, What We Do.
We are a volunteer-powered nonprofit that has served the Los Angeles community continuously since our first meeting on March 8, 1976. Founded in response to the urgent need for family support and LGBTQ+ advocacy, PFLAG Los Angeles grew from a small gathering into a trusted resource for thousands. Our mission is to support LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, educate the broader community, and advocate for equal rights.
Over the decades, we've played a key role in defeating discriminatory legislation, promoting inclusive policies, and expanding public understanding through media, public testimony, and publications. We continue this work today through three monthly virtual support groups (General, Gender Focus, and Español), a robust Speaker’s Bureau, and community education efforts that foster connection, affirmation, and lasting change.
