PFLAG LA Joins Equality California Advocacy Day in Sacramento
PFLAG Los Angeles was proud to join Equality California and advocates from across the state in Sacramento for LGBTQ+ Advocacy Day on Wednesday, March 25.
Board members Jethro Nededog and Maddie Reardon spent the day meeting with legislators, sharing the experiences of LGBTQ+ people and families, and advocating for policies that protect our communities and expand access to care, safety, and opportunity.
“This was about making sure lawmakers hear directly from LGBTQ+ people and families,” Nededog said. “When you’re in the room, sharing real experiences, it changes how these issues are understood.”

The day included a press conference and a full afternoon of legislative meetings inside the Capitol.
Advocacy Day is designed to prepare participants to engage directly with lawmakers. Through training and coordinated meetings, advocates are equipped to share personal stories and highlight the real-world impact of policy decisions.
These conversations matter. Legislative meetings are often brief, but they are an opportunity to ensure that the voices of LGBTQ+ Californians are heard directly by those shaping public policy.

Why This Work Matters
At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are being challenged across the country, California continues to play a critical role in advancing policies that protect health, safety, and dignity.
For many families, these issues are not abstract. They affect access to health care, safety in schools, privacy, and the ability to live openly and fully.
At PFLAG LA, advocacy is one of our core pillars. We show up not only to support families, but to help shape the policies that impact their daily lives.
We’re grateful to Equality California for organizing this important day and for continuing to lead the fight for LGBTQ+ equality across the state.
