Women’s History Month: Miss Major Griffin-Gracy and a Life of Resistance
This Women’s History Month, PFLAG Los Angeles honors Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a Black transgender activist and community leader who has dedicated her life to advocating for transgender women of color.
A veteran of the Stonewall uprising, Miss Major has spent decades fighting for dignity, safety, and justice for transgender people, especially those impacted by incarceration, poverty, and violence.
Her work has always centered community. Through direct support, advocacy, and mentorship, she has helped build stronger networks of care for those too often left out of broader conversations about equality.
Miss Major’s leadership is defined by consistency and compassion. She has shown what it means to stay committed, to show up, and to fight for those who need it most.
At PFLAG Los Angeles, we see the importance of that work every day. Supporting transgender individuals and their families means continuing to listen, learn, and build community together.
